Wood Fire Clays
|
Concow Wood Fire Clay was developed specifically for wood firing. It uses a blend of kaolin, known for its flashing qualities, and a plastic fire clay to give it exceptional throwing qualities and strength. Colors generated during wood firing range from orange-yellow, orange, tan and warm browns. The clay accepts both ash and salt extremely well. Concow Wood Fire Clay can fired to cone 12 without slumping or bloating. |

Concow 30 is the same clay body as Concow Wood Fire Clay with a 30 mesh sand added for larger thrown or sculptural pieces. In a gas firing the clay gives a warm gray in reduction, thus making this clay suitable for non-wood fire pieces as well. |
